The department

Our Residential Property department is our largest with teams in each of our three office locations. We attract a high volume of good quality property work and are proud to have a dominant market position in Hertfordshire.

We have an opportunity for a full-time Paralegal to join our St Albans office supporting a busy fee earner with freehold and leasehold sale and purchases. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a busy and thriving property law team, and who is keen to develop their career in residential property law.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting lawyers with all stages of residential property transactions
  • Under supervision and dependant on experience, drafting standard conveyancing documents and completion statements
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage brokers and other third parties, providing pro-active updates and assisting in the progression of cases
  • Obtaining property searches, including local authority searches, land registry checks, and environmental searches
  • Providing a supporting role on compliance matters including anti-money laundering (AML) and client care procedures
  • Managing electronic matter files ensuring they are kept up to date and accurately maintained.
  • General administrative support, including filing, correspondence/document production and document management.

Key Requirements

  • Residential Property experience with an established understanding of the residential conveyancing process for sale and purchase transactions
  • Law degree (or equivalent with GDL) minimum 2:1
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with clients and third parties effectively and professionally
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Methodical and organised approach to work, with the ability to handle multiple cases and meet deadlines
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software (knowledge of a specific case management system is a beneficial)
  • A proactive approach to work, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Please note, this role is not specifically designed to satisfy the SRA Qualifying Work Experience criteria to qualify as a solicitor. If this your intention please make this clear on your application. The Firm offers a two year Training Contract - for which a separate application must be made.
