Priory Hospital Roehampton are looking to recruit a Sessional Addictions Therapist to join the team.

We are a registered hospital in London, known as a welcoming and highly respected rehab facility that offers expert mental health and addiction treatment
We support people facing a wide range of mental health challenges, providing specialist care for depression, anxiety and addictions. Our team offers tailored treatment for substance addictions, including alcohol, cocaine and heroin, as well as behavioural addictions like gambling. We also provide outpatient support for adults with eating disorders

What you'll be doing


You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients well-being. As an Addiction Therapist, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based one-to-one therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, supporting clients to maintain sobriety and engage with aftercare through autonomy-promoting approaches.
  • Provide trauma-informed care using therapeutic models suited to complex needs, such as CBT, integrative, psychodynamic, or somatic approaches.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and timely clinical notes while identifying and escalating safeguarding or clinical risk concerns according to service protocols.
  • Collaborate with wider therapeutic and clinical teams to ensure integrated support and continuity of care for clients.

What you'll bring to the role


Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy, or a related field, along with a recognised professional therapy qualification such as BACP, UKCP, HCPC, or an equivalent accreditation. They should have a minimum of two years’ experience working in addiction treatment or recovery-focused settings, including supporting clients post-detox and/or post-residential treatment. A trauma-informed approach and a strong understanding of co-occurring conditions are essential, as is experience working with clients with dual diagnosis or complex trauma. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and maintain professional boundaries, with qualifications in integrative therapy approaches accepted if aligned with professional standards. The ability to conduct clear and accurate risk assessments, hold up-to-date insurance, and have an enhanced DBS (or willingness to undergo one) is required. Experience with outpatient or continuing care services, familiarity with structured addiction recovery models such as ATP, and knowledge of relapse prevention and crisis intervention strategies are highly desirable.
