We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Market Access professional to join our team of experts and strengthen our capabilities in this area. You will play a key role in providing strategic advice to life science clients to help them achieve rapid, broad and sustainable access to their innovative products. We are looking for someone who understands the needs of HTA and payers across the globe and can bring a high level of scientific rigor to the advice we provide our clients.
Who are we and what do we do?
In 2020 LCP launched our Heath Analytics practice, providing analytical and research services for organisations across the life sciences and healthcare industries. Our team brings together scientists, HEOR experts, market access specialists, epidemiologists, clinicians, and health data specialists alongside our established actuarial, analytics and technology teams to deliver new solutions for the fundamental challenges in health.
Our team’s mission is to help move health systems from importers of illness to exporters of health and to support our clients to deliver value to patients. We have already developed a track record for leading approaches to market access strategy, real world evidence generation and health economic modelling.
LCP’s Health Analytics team works across the healthcare and life sciences markets, combining health expertise with innovative approaches from our work in other sectors to tackle leading health issues. Examples of the types of projects that the Market Access team undertake for our clients include:
- Providing strategic recommendations on global clinical trial design to enable HTA and reimbursement success
- Identifying optimal routes for access in different markets
- Payer validation of market access strategies
- Payer environment shaping to recognise broader elements of value
- Strategic payer value communication development
- Payer evidence needs and gap analysis
What will you be doing?
As a Consultant in the Market Access team in LCP’s Health Analytics Department you will be involved in a diverse range of projects, covering both client and non-client work. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Conduct targeted secondary research utilising a wide variety of sources in order to address specific research questions i.e., understand disease and competitor landscape, current treatment pathways, pricing and reimbursement processes etc.
- Conduct thorough qualitative and quantitative payer and/or pricing research and analysis to identify opportunities and challenges for client products in various healthcare markets. This may include leading on the design on surveys, 1:1 in-depth interviews, advisory boards, roundtable and other primary research methodologies
- Systematically search for and interpret qualitative and quantitative evidence to make strategic recommendations for clients
- Develop and implement market access strategies, including pricing and reimbursement strategies, to optimise product commercialisation
- Develop value messages, dossiers, and other related payer value communication materials e.g. payer value decks, toolkits, objection handlers and internal training materials
- Support the preparation of client-facing presentations and reports, effectively communicating complex market access concepts to diverse audiences
- Lead and contribute to all stages of projects including:
- Proposal development
- Secondary/ desk research
- Market research and advisory boards
- Project management (administrative as well as financial)
- Report writing
- Be client facing, acting as the day-to-day contact on client projects
- Track and closely manage project budgets to ensure projects run to time and budget, while flagging any concerns upwards to project leads
- Oversee and review the work of other members of the team and support their development, including:
- Contribution to team training
- Contribution to the development of internal resources, tools and processes
- Demonstrate and develop your expertise by contributing to thought leadership activities
What experience, skills and qualities are we looking for?
- Significant, demonstrable experience in a market access role, in a consultancy environment
- A minimum 2:1 degree in a science subject, and a science/ health-related Masters degree or PhD
- A good understanding of health economic concepts along with a thorough knowledge of pricing and reimbursement processes and pathways in key global markets including, but not limited to EU4, UK, and US
- Knowledge of how a healthcare product is likely to be priced along with an understanding of concepts such as value-based pricing, price referencing, HTA etc.
- Excellent grounding in relevant qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. the running of payer research studies including some experience of qual and quant pricing research) with demonstrated experience in delivering previous pricing and market access focused research
- Demonstrable experience of developing strategic payer value communications (including both written i.e. dossiers, manuscripts, whitepapers, and slide based deliverables)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced skills in slide-based presentation i.e., ability to present complex data visually (infographics and data visualisation skills)
- Comfortable leading on day-to-day project activities and working as part of a growing dynamic team
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills and highly competent in the use of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Report writing skills (both in written prose and presentational formats) should be excellent
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task across client projects, project management of client engagements, and the mentoring and coordination of junior members of the team
- Experience in business development activities, including proposal writing and pitch presentations, is highly desirable
- Line management experience is desirable
