Salary: up to £55,370.00, depending on experience (plus £3,000 car allowance for Grade 11 pro-rata’d). The post is career-graded

Location: Hybrid/Remote though twice monthly attendance at Planning Control Meetings will be required.

Role Description

As a planning lawyer you will play a key role in implementing North Herts Council’s Local Plan and responding to the requirements of government planning policy. We are looking for an individual who can meet the challenge of a busy and lively department; who will be able to deal with a variety of internal clients and external developers; who can prioritise and adapt to a busy and varied workload and who can assist the Council in formulating its planning policy going forward. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive in-house legal team, which provides support in the all the diverse aspects of local authority planning and regulatory law.

The position will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to consolidate their experience in planning and related areas and develop their career in local government.

Experience

You will be a qualified Lawyer, with experience in local authority related planning and regulatory enforcement. Experience, or awareness, of traffic orders and licencing is desirable. You will be motivated, enthusiastic and keen to provide excellent legal advice and support, providing customer focused results and working with officers and councillors alike.

You will advise and provide legal services to officers and councillors and where relevant attend and advise Council Committees and other bodies. Attendance in person at twice monthly planning control meetings, held in the evening, will be required.
