Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £26,139 FTE (Actual Salary £15,895.34)

Annual Leave: 175.5 hours per annum

As our Child Looked After (CLA) Coordinator, you will help to ensure they a make successful progression into Hull College from year 11, and make good progress to achieve positive outcomes to best support them into further or higher education, training and/or employment.

Responsibilities of our Child Looked After (CLA) Coordinator:

  • Regularly share data and information which accurately supports year 11 CLA from application to enrolment on a programme of study at Hull College (to include close monitoring at every key stage, ie information gathering, application, interview, enrolment and induction)
  • Develop strong links between HC and the Virtual Schools to ensure CLA (yr12/13) information is constantly shared and reviewed (enrolments, attendance, progress, destinations)
  • Ensure progression is shared through attendance at termly PEP meetings (following offer acceptance) and that the PEP is completed within 10 days of this meeting taking place
  • Support College curriculum teams ensuring that there is a whole College approach to respecting and understanding the impact of care experience, attachment and trauma on learning and progress
  • Closely monitor those CLA with an EHCP to ensure a timely annual review is completed (year 11 autumn term) and shared with HC for consultation
  • Provide bespoke activities and make reasonable adjustments to ensure CLA access key events and stages of admission to HC
  • Regularly share and monitor attendance and progress data between HC and the VS to identify where early intervention may be required to support retention and achievement
  • Ensure that every CLA has a termly Personal Education Plan (PEP) meeting
  • Meet regularly with the Service Head to discuss, agree and provide comprehensive reports on key targets and objectives

What we’re looking for in our Child Looked After (CLA) Coordinator:

  • GCSE Maths and English or Equivalent
  • L2/3 Safeguarding Qualification
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people
  • Ability to manage complex and emotionally challenging situations with resilience and empathy
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders (children, carers, social workers, schools and colleges)
  • Ability to advocate effectively for young people’s rights and needs
