Summary

We are seeking a passionate Tutor to join our team at InFocus Charity. In this role, you will provide specialized educational support to young people aged 16-25 at InFocus College, helping them develop essential skills and confidence as they transition into adulthood.

Main purpose of the job

  • The role of Tutor at InFocus is to promote independence and high-quality learning through well-planned and effective teaching
  • To deliver high quality teaching in the college, across learning pathways supporting MLD, SLD and PMLD students
  • To deliver the requirements for teaching in line with the college curriculum for students at InFocus College
  • To positively engage with the annual cycle of performance management and maintain a good understanding of the professional teaching standards
  • To work collaboratively with the class and wider team to ensure that the student’s needs are supported within all aspects of their day
  • To adhere to all regulatory and statutory obligations and InFocus Charity’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • To work with the young people in a person-centred way by listening and responding to their wishes and aspirations, involving the young people, their family and friends in partnership with InFocus Charity to achieve this

Duties and responsibilities

  • To champion the progress of every student within every aspect of their learning
  • To engage students, parents and other professionals in all aspects of programming
  • planning as part of their preparation for adulthood
  • To complete assessments with new and existing students in line with the college assessment framework
  • To attend meetings with colleagues and professionals from other agencies, as required, both on and off site
  • To contribute to the analysis of information relating to attainment, progress, behaviour, accident and incidents, and report on these as part of the triangulation cycle
  • To promote students’ knowledge and skills as well as developing their emotional, psychological, communication and overall wellbeing
  • To support our ethos that learning happens everywhere, which will include teaching off campus
  • To review all programmes taught as part of the annual reporting and review cycle
  • To contribute to the quality assurance of education provision and contribute to the College Improvement Plan or Post Inspection Action Plans
  • To contribute to the writing of Individual Education Pathway Plans, which are in-line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), and evaluate these termly
  • To collate and present information from reviews
  • To contribute appropriate sections of students’ Placement Plans, Risk Assessment and other essential documentation as necessary
  • To risk assess and manage teaching sessions in line with students’ Behaviour Support Plans

Education and qualifications

  • A teaching qualification or willingness to undertake a teaching qualification
  • A good track record of continuing professional development
  • At least Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.

Pay: £27,917.24-£40,115.40 per year

Expected hours: 22.2 per week
