Summary
We are seeking a Shop Assistant to join our team at InFocus Charity. This role is vital in supporting our charity shop operations, enhancing customer experiences, and contributing to our mission of inclusion and empowerment. The position is based in Heavitree and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the shop is open, welcoming and trading during trading hours
- Promote public understanding of the work of InFocus Charity
- Receive donations with thanks, and sign donors up to our retail Gift Aid scheme
- Sort, process, grade, price and label donations (including some occasional heavy lifting)
- Welcome and serve customers (using the shop till) whilst demonstrating excellent customer service
- Keep the shop premises clean and tidy, reporting any IT, Health and Safety or maintenance issues in a timely manner
- Supervise and support volunteers who may be working with you
- Organise daily reconciliation of cash and other banking as required
- Follow InFocus policies regarding completion of required paperwork
- Provide cover at the charity’s other shops when the need arises
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good team working and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently with good organisational skills
- Able to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident using technology
- Good numeracy and literacy to GCSE level or equivalent
- Experience of working in charity retail
- Experience of using EPOS till system
- Knowledge of retail Gift Aid and experience of signing-up donors
