Job Overview

Through strong clinical leadership the post holder will operationally lead, develop and professionally line manage the nurse team leads to maintain and improve standards of care and experience for Occupational Health & Wellbeing needs. They will promote best practice which inspires and motivates others, empowering them to ensure that staff within their areas of influence/and responsibility have the support to provide and facilitate high quality individualised care for staff and managers. The post holder will undertake a key role in ensuring the service meets the quality, activity and financial targets through effective planning, delivery, service improvement and management of performance improvement.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as an autonomous, advanced practitioner delivering expert clinical care whereby the post holder can directly or indirectly influence all aspects of care and management of staff members.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge/skills and clinical reasoning to deal with complex cases within occupational health services / significant outbreaks of communicable infection.
Provides expert clinical, managerial and professional leadership of occupational health nursing services. Co-ordinate nursing team leads / nurses where workload can be unpredictable requiring day to day priority job planning,
To work at a high clinical level and provide expert knowledge and advice to other clinical teams within the hospital environment and in primary care establishments such as workforce advisers, health & safety advisers, GP’s, practice nurses, management teams. Advise on clinical decisions and monitor the quality of user care provided using expert clinical knowledge underpinned by theory and experience. Provide advice on nursing issues in relation to clinical interventions, policies, protocols and service development.
Manage a caseload and formulate action plans and review clients independently as required using high level clinical knowledge and skills to identify and provide fitness to work opinion.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Registered SCPHN (OH)
- Sufficient experience in an Occupational Health management role
- Trained in Health Surveillance delivery
- Completed additional OH report writing training
Essential Criteria
- Evidence of MDT & cross agency working
- A proven track record of operational service management including staff, financial and change management.
- Nebosh Certificate or equivalent
Essential criteria
- Excellent written & verbal skills, report writing & presentation skills
- Ability to communicate with senior staff within the profession, and other professionals, staff / managers / trade union partners , on a range of highly complex & sensitive issues requiring both persuasive & empathetic skills.
