SEND Assistant

Join our teaching team as we need a dedicated SEND Assistant who wants to support vulnerable learners from our offices in Dinnington, Sheffield.

Job Description


The Assistant SEND coordinator assists in managing the provision for learners identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at our online alternative provision (OAP). You will assist the SEND Lead in managing the SEND provision; including promoting high quality teaching and learning, effective use of time and resources and high standards of learning and achievement for all pupils.

Qualifications


We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Current DBS check or willingness to undergo one (ideally on the update service)

Essential Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience working with learners with SEND.
  • A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing the SEND provision in an educational setting.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of a variety of SEND strategies and interventions.
  • Strong assessment skills and experience in developing and maintaining IEPs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with learners, parents/carers, and colleagues.
  • Experience of working in an online learning environment.
  • A commitment to inclusion and a passion for ensuring all learners with SEND have the opportunity to succeed.

Desirable Skills

  • Any subject specialism, however one of the following would be preferred: English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, PE.
  • Experience of delivering training to a team of staff.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies for learners with SEND.
  • A relevant SEND qualification (e.g., National Award in SEN Coordination).

EDClass is a Department for Education accredited provider of online education which delivers engaging and innovative content to learners throughout the country whilst aiming to break barriers to learning. We need dedicated Science teachers to work with our learners and develop our new and original content as our provision grows and develops. Our recent OFSTED report can be viewed here.

Location


The Science Teaching Job is based at our office in Dinnington, Sheffield.

We are literally 10 minutes from the M1 (J31); 5 minutes from the A57 (Todwick); 10 minutes from the M18 (J2); and 15 minutes from the A1.
