Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant

Main Purpose To deliver an efficient and effective medicines management service to the Trusts in-patient wards by undertaking POD (Patients own Drugs) assessments, and reducing unnecessary wastage on discharge by managing the medication supply pathway and providing a one-stop dispensing service. To support professional and technical staff in the dispensary in the provision of an efficient dispensing service, including good housekeeping and general administration duties. General Duties To support Pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians with the Clinical Pharmacy service Creating non-stock order sheets for Pharmacists to authorise prior to dispensing Checking PODs as appropriate for use whilst an inpatient To complete near patient dispensing in the ward environment to support timely patient discharge To dispense prescriptions for hospital in patients and out patients, discharge prescriptions and controlled drugs for all service users
