Financial Controller – UK Chilled Food Industry (Hybrid | Nottingham + UK Travel)

Are you an ambitious Financial Controller ready to make your mark in the dynamic world of chilled food manufacturing? We’re looking for a commercially astute and technically strong finance professional to join our fast growing business, based in Nottingham with the flexibility of hybrid working and occasional travel to our UK sites.
This is your opportunity to step into a visible, hands-on role where you'll be at the centre of financial control, leading a talented and diverse hybrid team, driving process and systems improvements, and steering the fast-growing company through key financial milestones including year-end, audit, and statutory reporting.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own the Close: Lead the monthly consolidated financial close and deliver high-quality performance reporting.
- Ensure Financial Accuracy: Oversee all financial accounting activities – from journals to accruals and prepayments – ensuring precision and timeliness.
- Lead Year-End: Drive the year-end close, manage the external audit process, and ensure statutory accounts are filed on time.
- Keep Things Moving: Oversee all Accounts Payable, Receivable and Credit Control activities, ensuring accurate processing, timely collections, and supplier payments.
- Tax & Strategy: Ensure compliance with direct and indirect taxes while developing a robust tax strategy for the group working with the Tax Manager.
- Be the Technical Expert: Provide technical accounting advice on new products, initiatives, and acquisitions. Own and ensure Group Accounting Policies.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Champion efficiency, automation, transformation and stronger controls across all financial processes.
- Inspire a High-Performing Team: Lead and develop a hybrid team across multiple locations, creating a collaborative, engaged and accountable culture.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) – ideally Big 5 trained – with at least 5 years’ PQE
- A confident communicator with a proactive mindset and ability to manage competing priorities at pace
- Process and Systems transformation experience in a large centralised finance team.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience navigating complex financial environments
- Advanced Excel skills and a passion for data accuracy, structure, and insight
- A natural leader with experience managing dispersed, hybrid teams
