What you’ll be doing:

Slough operates an in-house waste management and waste collection service but unfortunately has some of the lowest recycling rates in the country.

The new role of Waste Minimisation Lead will be responsible for Slough Borough Council’s approach to increasing recycling rates and waste minimization across the borough. You will lead on the implementation of recycling requirements set by the Simpler Recycling regulations for workplaces and households ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

You will be responsible for analysis of participation rates in areas of the borough where recycling performance is low and could be improved through targeted campaigns, promotion and advice to the residents of Slough.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Waste and Street Cleansing you will be responsible for a team of two recycling and sustainability officers.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your Director.
