Barista

About the Role

Join us at one of the world’s biggest cultural celebrations – the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As a Barista at Origin Coffee, you’ll serve top-quality coffee and drinks while delivering an exceptional customer experience. You’ll work closely with our General Manager and fellow baristas to create a warm, welcoming space during this exciting, fast-paced period. Expect mostly daytime shifts (8am–5pm), with occasional evenings (6–11pm) to support bar service during the festival.

What You’ll Be Doing

Guest Experience

• Greet every customer with warmth, positivity, and product knowledge.
• Help guests make informed choices from our coffee and drinks menu.
• Deliver Origin’s signature service from first sip to farewell.

Coffee & Drinks Preparation

• Prepare espresso and filter coffees to the highest standards.
• Serve a small range of alcoholic drinks as needed.
• Maintain quality and consistency in every cup.

Team Support

• Collaborate with the GM and team to keep service smooth and stress-free.
• Contribute to a supportive, high-energy team culture.
• Join training sessions to sharpen your skills.

Operations & Brand

• Keep the café clean, tidy, and well-stocked at all times.
• Follow food hygiene and health & safety procedures.
• Support stock management and brand presentation.
• Assist with customer engagement events during the Fringe.

• Previous barista or hospitality experience essential.
