Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trauma Co-Ordinator based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What You Will Do

NHS Ayrshire & Arran Orthopaedic Trauma Unit at UHC has exciting opportunities to recruit a band 6 Trauma coordinator post within our current trauma coordinator team. This post is pivotal to ensure that we continue to deliver a high standard of Trauma and Orthopaedic care to our patients in Ayrshire. You will be working closely with our Consultant team to coordinator care for patients from throughout the whole of NHS Ayrshire and Arran. You will run board rounds within the 3 Trauma wards ward 2A, 2B and 5A ensure a truly coordinated MDT approach to care delivery. You will also be involved in the delivery of a bespoke Trauma and Orthopaedics education programme for our Newly Qualified and Junior staff within the Orthopaedic wards. We are seeking individuals who have excellent communication and organisational skills that can excel in a highly pressured environment in order to collaborate with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, ensuring the patient journey is positive and safe and care is delivered in a manner which is both professional and person centred. Ideally, we are looking for individuals with excellent IT skills and experience in delivering education as well as being a leader within their department.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job

  • Evidence of participation in service developments and quality improvement
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary working within an orthopaedic environment and a variety of care systems
  • Experience in management of patient flow, capacity and effective discharge planning
  • Working knowledge of Acute Services policies and procedures and governance arrangements
  • Knowledge and understanding of local, regional and national Orthopaedic and surgical care strategies
  • Excellent clinical decision making skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Ability to plan and facilitate staff education
