Haventus was born out of the vital need for port space to support large-scale deployment of offshore wind.
The first Haventus energy transition facility is currently under development at Ardersier Port. When completed, it will transform Scotland’s largest brownfield port into a world-class facility for the deployment and servicing of offshore wind installations.
Ardersier Port boasts a prime location on the Moray Firth. It represents an operational model that Haventus will seek to replicate across the world, to help enable a greener, net zero future globally.

About The Role
The Marine Skipper will play a crucial role in supporting the safe and efficient operations of the Marine team, showing a passion for maritime operations and a commitment to excellence. You’ll be highly experienced in handling vessels in a safe manner, as well as being skilled in Multicat boat handling, ploughing and towing. You will have an extensive understanding of marine safety procedures, ensuring safe and efficient operations while adhering to maritime regulations and safety standards.

About The Role
The Marine Skipper will play a crucial role in supporting the safe and efficient operations of the Marine team, showing a passion for maritime operations and a commitment to excellence. You’ll be highly experienced in handling vessels in a safe manner, as well as being skilled in Multicat boat handling, ploughing and towing. You will have an extensive understanding of marine safety procedures, ensuring safe and efficient operations while adhering to maritime regulations and safety standards.

- Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to company policies, maritime law, and industry standards.
- Assist the development, implementation and upkeep of the SMS and PMS.
- Support the Marine Manager and other members with team supervisory duties.
- Mentor and train members of the Marine team.
- Check and maintain safety and environmental regulations on board.
- Co-ordinate crew activities.
- Maintain ships and personnel administration (e.g. ships log, daily report).
- Deliver toolbox talks on safe operations.
- Work with crew members to facilitate the safe arrival, docking and departure of vessels at the port.
- Assist with navigation tasks and training as needed, including operating small marine craft, monitoring equipment, surveying equipment and providing lookout duties.
- Develop RAMS and lift plans for tasks carried out onboard Haventus vessels.
- Handle ropes, lines and other equipment to secure vessels to docks during mooring operations.
- Assist in the release of lines during unmooring procedures.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks onboard the vessels, including LSA equipment checks, repairs, cleaning, painting and upkeep to ensure vessels are in optimal working condition.
- Support the construction team in the development of the port as and when required.
- Carry out any other duties as required to assist the safe and efficient operations on the port.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to minimise risks and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and fellow team members.
- Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations, conducting regular safety inspections and drills.
- Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including fires, medical incidents and other onboard emergencies ensuring the relevant procedures are followed.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the Marine Manager, fellow team members and port colleagues to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate records of navigation activities, crew schedules, maintenance logs and other relevant documentation as required.

- 3+ years experience as a Multicat Skipper
- All valid mandatory STCW qualifications (Yachtmaster Offshore Commercially Endorsed or MCA Master less than 500t)
- A valid Seafarer’s medical certificate (Eng1)
- An approved engine course certificate with good understanding of the vessels machinery (desirable)
- A CSCS labourer card (desirable)

- Prioritise health and safety in all aspects of your work, proactively identifying risks and ensuring compliance with all regulations to create a safe environment.
- Are prepared to be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the business, which may include working long hours, including weekends, in variable conditions, often in inclement weather conditions. You must also be able to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, whether in writing or verbally, tailoring your message to the audience to ensure understanding and alignment.
- Remain positive and composed under pressure, adapting to challenges and maintaining focus to solve any problems which may arise.

- Have a keen eye for detail and prioritise accuracy, ensuring that instructions are followed and that you are aware of your surroundings.
