Are you a Health & Safety Advisor, seeking your next contract?

My client has an immediate opportunity to join their Property Services team on an initial interim basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the organisation to meet both statutory and non-statutory Health and Safety obligations, by providing clear, consistent and quality health & safety advice and guidance at all levels and across all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional advisory service embracing all areas of health and safety management including, developing and maintaining risk assessments, conducting workplace inspections and incident investigation, reporting incidents, identifying areas for improvement and the implementation of improvements.
  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager in the development and delivery of corporate and departmental strategies & projects and assist with the continuous development and maintenance of the safety management system.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and review Health and Safety strategies, policies, framework, procedures and effective management practices.
  • Support in consulting with trade union workplace Safety Representatives and to assist Management to undertake actions to resolve any legitimate concerns that may arise.
  • Assist Management in undertaking risk assessments and audits.
  • Undertake workplace inspections on works, attend site visits and site meetings.
  • Provide correct readily understandable interpretation of Health and Safety legislation, internal and external guidance, codes of practice, and industry best practice.
  • Ensure changes to legislation, codes of practice, policies and procedures are identified and implemented in an effective and timely manner, in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
  • Prepare Health and Safety reports and statistical information and when necessary present reports at Committee Meetings or other forums as required.
  • Collate and analyse accident statistics and recommend preventative intervention strategies to reduce occupational ill health incidences and lost working days .
  • To investigate accidents/incidents, and report accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences.
  • Deputise for the Health & Safety Manager as required.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH level 6 Diploma, NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety and Health Management
  • Certified Member of IOSH with experience and qualifications supporting IOSH membership
  • Hold a full UK driving license
