Job description Job responsibilities Main Duties and Responsibilities: Perform venepuncture to collect blood samples from patients as requested by GPs, nurses, or other clinicians. Prepare and label specimens accurately and ensure safe and timely transport to the relevant laboratories. Maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system (SystmOne). Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times.
Reassure and support patients who may feel anxious or nervous about the procedure. Monitor stock levels of phlebotomy equipment and request resupply when necessary. Work closely with the wider clinical and administrative team to ensure smooth clinic operation. Ensure patient safety and dignity is maintained at all times.
Escalate any concerns about a patients condition or wellbeing to the appropriate clinician. Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives as required. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with GDPR and NHS guidelines.
