Location: Market Management Office, 12 Princess Parade, Bury, BL9 0QL
Hours: 24 hours per week (Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, 10:00am 6:30pm)
Salary: Grade 3 + Saturday enhancements (FTE £24,309)

Are you passionate about cleanliness, community spaces, and customer care? Bury Council is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Market Cleaner to help maintain the high standards of hygiene and presentation across our vibrant market facilities.

As a key member of the Markets Management team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our public and trader toilets, market offices, and surrounding areas are spotless, safe, and welcoming. You’ll be working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the sameinteracting with traders, shoppers, and colleagues while keeping our market clean, green, and safe.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Cleaning public and trader toilets, offices, and communal areas to a high standard
  • Using powered cleaning equipment and maintaining cleaning supplies
  • Supporting recycling and sustainability efforts
  • Assisting with general enquiries and promoting a positive visitor experience
  • Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed at all times

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in cleaning or janitorial work (public or commercial settings)
  • A strong understanding of hygiene and health & safety standards
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude
  • Physical fitness to carry out manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules
