Supply Chain Manager
East Midlands Railway

We are proud to be One Team at East Midlands Railway (EMR). We are passionate about keeping people safe, delighting our customers, doing the right thing, and putting customers at the heart of our sustainable railway for the East Midlands.
With over 2,600 employees, our people are the reason we are so successful. Nine times accredited as a Top Employer, we value our people and are dedicated to making sure that everybody feels empowered to bring their authentic self to work.
At EMR we want to proactively embrace diversity across our workforce and recognise that we are under-represented in terms of females and ethnic minority groups. We’re therefore taking positive steps to promote a positive and inclusive culture; we welcome applications from those that identify with these groups to better represent our communities.
We have an exciting opportunity to join #TeamEMR as the Engineering Function Supply Chain Manager.

Your key responsibilities include:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop a high-performing Stores Team to deliver a compliant, efficient, and professional service.
- Ensure alignment between team objectives and depot/service delivery targets.
- Manage all people-related duties, including performance reviews, training records, and adherence to HR policies.
Compliance & Process Oversight
- Ensure all supply chain operations comply with company policy, ISO9001 standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and improve procedures for purchasing, stock handling, and fuel management.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Manage supplier relationships, contracts, and service levels.
- Conduct performance reviews, enforce contract compliance, and handle claims through Finance.
- Oversee renewal of supplier agreements, ensuring strategic alignment and value for money.
- Manage all warranty processes to maximise returns and reduce risk.
Inventory & Asset Control
- Oversee inventory accuracy and repairable item management.
- Conduct audits in coordination with Finance.
- Manage ROSCO-owned spares, ensuring full compliance across access, storage, and repair cycles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Planning, Production, and Technical teams to ensure material availability supports operational priorities.
- Ensure Bill of Materials and procurement plans are accurate and aligned with delivery schedules.
Systems & Financial Control
- Maintain data accuracy in the Fleet Management System for effective planning and reporting.
- Approve material purchases and manage supply chain budgets (including overtime).
- Report on key KPIs to support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
What we are looking for:
- Educated to degree level in Engineering, Operations, Business Management or a related discipline — or equivalent relevant experience.
- Practical, hands-on experience in supply chain operations within a complex or regulated environment.
- A proven track record of negotiating, securing, and managing high-value supply contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to extract maximum value from the supply base through performance management and strategic sourcing.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, develop, and manage high-performing teams.
- Good technical writing skills and experience developing and maintaining procedures in line with ISO 9001 standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI — with the ability to analyse and present data effectively.
- Experience or knowledge of railway rolling stock and related technical systems is highly desirable.
As well as a competitive salary, we’ll also offer you:
