Job Summary
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.
RHQ The Royal Gurkha Rifles (RGR) is at the heart of a strong and close-knit Regimental family, providing support to both serving and retired Gurkha soldiers and their families. The Regimental Secretary is a key leadership figure within this structure, responsible for ensuring the effective management of regimental governance, welfare support, heritage preservation, and engagement with both military and civilian communities.
The Regimental Secretary serves as a senior representative of the Royal Gurkha Rifles (RGR), both within the Army and in broader regimental affairs. They act as a focal point for welfare matters, supporting bereaved families, wounded personnel, and those transitioning to civilian life. The role requires close collaboration with service charities, local authorities, and veterans’ organisations to secure necessary support for Gurkha soldiers and veterans.
The Royal Gurkha Rifles has a proud history and tradition, drawing its soldiers from Nepal.
