Skylark is a 30 bedded unit in Yate for patient rehabilitation. Our aim is to help people to regain their independence and to provide a safe, patient centred, effective and evidence-based service in a community inpatient setting.
We are looking for a full time (37.5hrs) Band 5 Occupational Therapist (OT) to bring a unique blend of experiences, backgrounds and knowledge to our well-established team.
Your focus will be to use your skills and creativity to contribute to the development and implementation of treatment programs. You will work autonomously to deliver high quality, evidence-based interventions that improve service users’ functional abilities and independence. We use a Multidisciplinary team approach to facilitate safe and timely discharges with a home is best approach.
You will have access to regular supervision with a senior Occupational Therapist and will work alongside a range of colleagues, including GP’s, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physiotherapist, Support Workers and Social Workers.
To perform occupational therapy assessments, to aid diagnosis and treatment of patients who may have diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions; including orthopaedic, vascular, neurological, cognitive problems.
To assist in the discharge planning process as part of the wider MDT.
To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working with supervision where required. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training, regular clinical supervision sessions and access to informal supervision from senior staff.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
to provide support/supervision for the occupational therapy students, assistant practitioners, rehab support workers and activities co-ordinator.
to assist Senior therapists in service development, including the development of groups.
