The Job

This role will manage the scope of HFM system and process activities necessary for the Aveva Group to produce a monthly statutory consolidation under US GAAP reporting standards and in USD. These reporting needs are incremental to the current statutory consolidation which is performed in line with IFRS reporting standards and in EURO’s. The primary focus will be on the Group Consolidation and Reporting solution, Oracle HFM. It will also include extending the scope of this application across to business units, RIB, and ETAP.

The Finance project manager will be expected to demonstrate relevant subject matter knowledge and challenge where possible in respect of the above, having previous experience delivering Finance Consolidation solutions, under either US GAAP or IFRS. In their role, programme delivery managers will also be expected to be a key contributor to PMO processes supporting its function.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Initiation & Business Case creation

  • Working with the VP of Finance Systems to “translate” business needs to requirements across the targeted HFM application.
  • Shape and input on the Scope definition of the programme
  • Create the business case and work with global stakeholders to progress through the approval process within the AVEVA governance structures

Programme Organisation setup

  • Work with the Business and IT Application owner to capture relevant system and process changes.
  • Establish working relationships across Group Consolidation Team of Aveva and RIB/ETAP Project Leaders to facilitate effective delivery
  • Working with the Aveva change function to align programme delivery scope to business change capabilities
  • Setup the appropriate governance structures to enable delivery of the programme or projects (working groups, steercos, workstreams)

Planning & Delivery

Working with the wider PMO, create and maintain fully integrated plans at the required levels of detail I.e. a strategic ‘plan on a page’; an integrated plan at programme level, maintained in Workfront; and detailed workstream level plans

  • Understand milestones, deliverable and activities and ensure they are adequately represented in the plans
  • Identify internal, cross-workstream and cross–portfolio dependencies, ensuring that these are agreed between the respective parties and are tracked in the relevant plans
  • Understand and document key assumptions and constraints
  • Work with the wider programme project managers and project leads identifying any integration topics, ensuring appropriately planned and actioned.
  • Build and maintain resource plans that support the integrated plans, identifying resource bottlenecks and project challenges suggesting actions to correct

Coaching non-project managers

  • Regularly meet with workstream leads to ensure that workstream plans and integrated plans are kept up-to-date and are in synch
  • Coach workstream leads in completion of plans, reporting and management of dependencies

As member of the PMO, support the following

  • Implementing and maintaining appropriate PMO processes and controls to support the delivery of the programme
  • Prepare, attend and facilitate governance forums as required (i.e. working groups and steering groups) to brief stakeholders and support decision-making
  • Ensure reporting is effective and distributed in a timely manner
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of detailed programme plans, identifying risk areas and reporting on progress
  • Manage upwards and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Continually review and improve existing PMO processes and controls

Weekly status reporting & RAID log

  • Quality assure weekly status reporting to ensure that it complies with PMO standards
  • Prepare weekly summary pages, based on workstream status, and including the updated programme plan on a page
  • Collate daily and weekly dashboards and other metrics for weekly reporting
  • Ensure that the RAID log is kept continually updated and contains the latest action plans
  • Assist in the facilitation of the bi-weekly Risk Forum

Continuous improvement

  • Implement programme and project management new standards proposed by the ITO
  • Develop and present proposals to improve PMO governance and planning

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in programme and project management, with deep expertise in planning and delivery of complex transformation initiatives
  • Integrated programme and project planning
  • Investment case creation and initiation of programmes
  • Critical path analysis, Scenario planning, Course correction/ “plan to green”
  • RAID management
  • Ability to work accurately at pace
  • Microsoft Project skills
  • Experience in programme and project status reporting
  • Ability to summarise complex progress updates for senior stakeholders
  • Ability to appraise critically status reports and recommend improvement
  • Experience in programme and project status reporting
  • Experience of working on a global programme
  • Experience in coaching and guiding non-specialists in programme and project management
  • Able to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • Communications skills, written and verbal
  • Analytical skills

Desired Skills

  • Qualified accountant – ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA or equivalent
  • Group Consolidation / Oracle HFM experience
  • Programme and project management qualifications/ certifications e.g. PRINCE 2/ MSP

Hybrid working
