Applications are now invited for a 12 month secondment or fixed term position as Service Manager within the Elective Medicine Care Group in NHS Tayside.

Elective Medicine is a complex and dynamic set of mainly acute based services that provide inpatient, outpatient, cancer care, diagnostics, specialist nursing care and some community-based services to the long-term condition population of Tayside. Elective Medicine sits alongside the Unscheduled Medicine Care Group within the wider Medicine Division. Services include Cardiology and Cath Labs, Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, Clinical Investigations Units, Infectious Diseases, Diabetes and Endocrine, General Medicine, Rheumatology, OPAT and HIV as well as providing line management and oversight to the long term conditions Managed Clinical Networks. The Care Group has an ambition to continue to build on existing partnerships and collaboration to provide more integrated services to the population, and to innovate and evolve services to be fit for the challenges of today and the future.

This is a new post that will report to the Care Group Manager/Triumvirate and will provide service management, leadership and business support to a small number of services, in particular Endoscopy. The postholder will also provide line management of the Medicine administration service and performance management function.

The postholder will work closely with the Care Group Manager, Lead Nurse, Clinical Director and the wider Medicine Division, specialty Clinical Leads, Senior Nurses, Senior Charge Nurses, Specialist Nurses, Heads of Services, the Capacity Manager and other corporate and Acute based support functions, to deliver effective, quality assured, person-centred services. This post offers the opportunity to drive forward clinical and business service improvements, and the successful applicant will play a key role in determining the strategic direction of the Endoscopy service in Tayside for the future.

The post will be based in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, and will require travel throughout NHS Tayside.

We are looking for an individual educated to degree level with good IT skills and experience in healthcare related management. A background in operational management, project/programme management and/or improvement will be advantageous.

Hours of work are: 37 hours per week.
