Job Description

We’re offering an excellent entry-level opportunity for a Fixed Term Assistant Management Accountant to join our Combat Air (CA) sector, part of the Electronic Warfare (EW) Line of Business. You'll be contributing to critical defence projects, including the Praetorian Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS), which safeguards the Eurofighter Typhoon from air and surface threats.

In this role, you will work closely with the Financial Controller, the Project Accountant, and the wider Integrated Project Teams (IPTs). Your work will support key financial operations, including invoicing, cash management, journal postings, and forecasting. You’ll also attend monthly Contract Status Review (CSR) meetings and support bid activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximise project cashflow through timely invoice preparation and resolution of related queries
  • Maintain the Work Share Partner (WSP) cash book for timely payments upon receipt of customer cash
  • Keep the Combat Air Debtors file up-to-date as invoices are raised and payments received
  • Update milestone tracking documents for invoicing and cash receipt tracking
  • Reconcile project milestones to show invoiced items and outstanding amounts
  • Prepare new project milestone reconciliation sheets, ensuring alignment with customer orders and SAP, including value splits between Leonardo and WSP
  • Assist in creating and posting journals in SAP for month-end processes and ad hoc corrections
  • Support monthly EW PV reports, ensuring accurate Tempest data representation
  • Contribute to rolling financial forecasts for orders, sales, revenue, margin, and cash
  • Maintain and update Tempest Selling Price Trackers for review
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Project Accountant and Financial Controller as required

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree-qualified or part-qualified accountant
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (SAP experience desirable)
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • A keen eye for detail and commitment to high-quality outputs
  • Enthusiastic and proactive, with a genuine interest in the projects and contracts you’ll support

Leonardo offers hybrid working wherever the role can support this. For this role, an on-site presence of 3 days per week at our Luton site is to be anticipated.
