We’re on the lookout for kind, dedicated Care Support Workers to join our team. If you’re someone who genuinely wants to make a difference and support people with complex needs to live well, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Care Support Worker, you’ll help individuals throughout their day – including getting to and from our service – making sure they feel supported, safe, and valued every step of the way. You’ll play a vital role in meeting both the physical and emotional needs of the people we work with.
If you’re caring, reliable and ready to make a real impact, come and be part of something meaningful.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting people in a way that’s personal to them
- Helping people live life their way, making choices and shaping their own routines.
- Using a range of communication methods tailored to each person’s needs.
- Supporting people to speak up for themselves – or be their voice when they can’t.
- Encouraging involvement in everyday activities that promote independence and inclusion.
- Working with care plans using our care planning system.
- Supporting with health and personal care (including continence and mobility), and manage behaviours when needed.
- Safely supporting people in wheelchairs and helping with transport via our vehicles.
Delivering top-quality care
- Keeping accurate, up-to-date records of care and support.
- Sharing important information with Team Leaders and Supervisors.
- Completing our induction and training programmes
- Being an active part of the team, attending meetings and contributing ideas.
- Always treating everyone – from the people we support to their families and fellow staff – with respect.
- Following all Focus Birmingham policies to ensure safe, high-quality care.
What we’re looking for:
Essential
- Naturally kind, caring and able to understand others' needs.
- Genuinely passionate about helping people live their best lives.
- A good team player who lifts others up.
- A positive attitude, even when things get tough.
- Able to support with manual handling and wheelchair use.
- Willing to learn and use different ways to communicate.
- Confident in using written English to record care clearly and accurately.
- Previous experience supporting people with care needs.
Desirable
- Familiarity with Makaton, PECs, or other communication aids.
- Comfortable using basic IT for training and care records.
