Key Purpose Of The Job

To provide expert design and quotation support for smoke control systems by interpreting industry-standard drawings, floorplans, specifications, and fire strategies. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of relevant BS and EN standards for both natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems, the ability to specify components and estimate labour requirements accurately, and active participation in client meetings and design discussions, including on-site visits when necessary.

Key Job Responsibilities

• To fully design both Mechanical & Natural Smoke Vents systems that match the client’s requirements as well as meet all required BS/EN standards
• To be able to accurately cost both parts & labour required in order to provide the client with a quotation of works
• To provide a “Handover” pack internally to the Project Manager (P/M) for each project detailing scope of works & core costings for the P/M to deliver
• Must be able to technically support the P/M when required with either design changes or clint requests
• To liaise with suppliers & specialist sub-contractors for costings
• Responsible for progressing internal and external customer enquiries, interpreting specifications and selecting best equipment from supported portfolio
• To work with and Projects Team Members, complying with work instructions, company policies and Health and Safety procedures.
• Be able to assist with the technical support workload and other reasonable requests from the account management team.
• Working alongside BDM/Sales Team across the UK designing competitively priced systems and solutions from survey and technical design to completion
  
  

Essential Requirements

• Experienced in designing Mechanical & Natural Smoke systems
• Ability to design systems from drawings and client requirement documents
• High degree of planning and organisational skills
• Experience in handling projects and tasks with tight deadlines
• Effective time management skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationship within the business and clients.
• Sound technical knowledge and experience
• Demonstration of a high level of competency regarding analytical thinking and problem solving
