What Will You Be Doing

  • To provide timely and accurate responses to both customers and engineers related to technical issues.
  • To maintain accurate and timely records of all technical issues in the company fault recording system.
  • To represent G4S Fire & Security Systems in a customer facing role regarding problems or the provision of a product solution.
  • Understand the impact and importance of a customer issue and relay clear concise information to the suppliers.
  • Research and identify problems that have been reported from other departments, engineers and customers.
  • To assist the Installation department with server and network builds which provide infrastructure services to security management solutions.
  • To make presentations of product related functionality to other team members, departments and customers.
  • Provide technical reference services (i.e. technical manual lookup) to field based engineers on a range of 3rd party Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intruder Alarm, Intercom and Fire Systems.
  • Keep up-to-date with new technologies and various 3rd party technology products. This may involve self-learning and a willingness to participate in internal and/or external training courses which may involve out of hours working.
  • To participate, as required, in the company's Quality program.

What We Are Looking For

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills
  • Server Support or IT administration experience providing industry leading technical support and customer service
  • Previous experience of offering over the phone & remote diagnostics
  • Strong analytical skills, enquiring and investigative mind. Able to get to the root causes of a problem and communicate this clearly to others.
  • Previous experience in a role which has involved the management of workload across multiple tasks simultaneously (e.g. project management across multiple projects)
  • Knowledge of current IT systems including: MS SQL Databases, MS Operating systems (both Server and Client).
  • Strong analytical skills, enquiring and investigative mind. Able to get to the root causes of a problem and communicate this clearly to others.
  • Skills in administration of various operating systems (in particular Windows and Linux)
  • Experience in technical support or related departments
  • Skills in computer networks (understanding TCP/IP concepts, troubleshooting, understanding security concepts etc.)
  • Previous Experience of working within High Security environments in an IT / Networking capacity
  • Experience with Electronic Security Systems e.g. CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms etc.

There are also some must haves

  • Must be a full driving license holder.
  • This role will require the successful applicant to undergo security clearance which is essential to the role.
  • Participate in occasional out of hours work when required and being part of an on call rota.
  • Occasional UK travel and overnight stays may be a requirement.
