Join our Major Projects team as an Estimator initially as part of the Balfour Beatty team on Sizewell C Nuclear project and you’ll be part of our legacy.Role Purpose:
- Supporting the Managing & Senior Estimators to develop estimates from 1st Principles associated with the Balfour Beatty Portion of the Sizewell C Civil Works Alliance mentioned above.
- Be a member of the team developing the price and supporting the assurance of this
- Support more senior members of the team to present, negotiate and justify prices
and/or external customers/partners.
As an Estimator, you will have the following Key Responsibilities.
- Undertake estimates in accordance with the companies’ policies and procedures.
- Review customer’s drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for
- Oversee and/or interrogate design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate,
- Record assumptions and identify risks and opportunities including supporting
- Develop from first principles labour, plant material, subcontract pricing within the BB
- Develop or check bills of quantities used to present alliance pricing using the BB
- Liaise with members of the project team & supply chain to develop and understand
What you'll be doing
Interfacing with Internal: Senior Leaders, Portion Lead, Project Directors, Design &Engineering lead and associated teams, Commercial Director and associated teams
including Procurement, Planning Leads and associated teams, subject matter experts and
technical writers/bid teams, other members of estimating team, External: Alliance partners,
Customers, Designers, Supply Chain, Sub-contractors, Cost Consultants, Auditors
Who we're looking for
Infrastructure Main Contractor background ideally in the heavy civil engineering
market.
- Previous experience in an estimating role, Commercial or operational background
- Working towards or chartered with a relevant industry recognised chartership e.g., ICE,
- Experienced estimating background using Candy Estimating Software and/or RIB Cost
- Good financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation
