Margaret Howell is a contemporary British clothing designer who has worked successfully in men’s and women’s clothing for over five decades. Today, Margaret Howell clothes are sold worldwide with 12 own shops in Europe, over 100 outlets in Japan and an established online business.


We are now seeking a highly experienced sewing machinist to work as part of a small team at our Edmonton location. This is a great opportunity for a skilled individual to join a successful UK-based clothing designer, making complete shirts in high quality fabrics.

Hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sew elements of a shirt from pre-cut cloth, demonstrating specialised skill across each aspect including collar, cuff, plackets etc in order to produce components of exceptionally high quality
  • Read patterns and specifications and ensure correct execution
  • Effectively operate industrial sewing machines
  • Work efficiently and in a timely manner adapting to specific methods of make as directed by the Factory Manager
  • Operate presser to ensure a thorough finish on all elements produced
  • Undertake other sewing of other garments, samples etc as may be requested from time to time

Role Requirements

  • Experienced in sewing high quality shirts
  • Previous experience working with industrial sewing machines, in particular Brother/Juki machines
  • Extremely accurate sewing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Aptitude for technical activities.
  • Able to understand and read patterns and specs
  • Good understanding of written and spoken English and the ability to communicate verbally in English.
