Join the team at cardfactory as our new Financial Controller - or Head of Management Accounts as this role is known internally.
We’re looking for a hands-on finance leader to lead management accounting, budgeting and forecasting. With this insight, you will play a key role in influencing and supporting the leadership team to make smart, informed decisions.
You'll drive accurate, timely reporting across our retail, wholesale, manufacturing and online businesses in the UK and ROI, and be a key Group finance contact for our overseas subsidiaries. But it’s not all about the numbers! This high-impact role will also involve a mixture of project work, system improvements, cross-team collaboration as well leading and supporting 4 direct reports & c.15 indirect reports.
As a Finance leader, you’ll work closely with senior leadership to help shape the financial direction of the business. Key to success in this role will also be the development of a robust talent and succession pipeline within Management Accounts.

Based at Junction 41 in Wakefield, with free parking and hybrid working, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in our team. The number of days you’ll need to be onsite at our Support Centre in Wakefield will vary week to week but roughly 2 – 3 days in the office.

Main Responsibilities
- Provision of robust divisional and group monthly management accounts to deadlines, and delivery of insightful information to the business.
- Day to day point of contact for local Finance teams in Overseas entities (currently USA, RoI and South Africa)
- Lead a team of Finance Managers and their direct reports, developing departmental plans and managing resourcing and succession
- Together with the FP&A analyst, lead the Group Budget process (and twice-yearly reforecasts) to timely and accurate completion.
- Champion continuous improvement and automation across all of Finance, leveraging the existing ERP system
- Drive alignment between the direct and indirect cash flows, working with the Head of Tax & Treasury
- Develop and strengthen financial controls, policies and procedures
- Deputises for the Director of Corporate Accounting & Transactions and performs any ad hoc tasks required
Essential
- Finance qualification such as ACCA/CIMA/ACA with post-qualification experience
- Strong analytical and Excel skills
- Experienced in leading teams
- Demonstrable record of process improvement, automation and elimination of non-value adding activities
- Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of non-Finance stakeholders. Ability to flex style to suit audience
- Resilient, organised, pragmatic and able to manage differing (sometimes competing) priorities
- Experience in a fast paced, high turnover, high change business
- ERP experience e.g. SAP or Oracle
- Experience of working in a large retail/FMCG business
