Role Description:
We are seeking a driven Production Manager to lead our production areas, working closely with Supervisors and Cell Managers to ensure the delivery of high performance and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on role where you will be instrumental in driving results, supporting your team, and ensuring that our production targets are consistently met.
Role Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe running of the areas and that all staff are following health and safety procedures; all quality SOPs are being followed correctly and that lines are crewed and being run in the most efficient way.
- Monitor line outputs, line efficiency and crew efficiency; identify opportunities for improvement and resolve issues that disrupt production.
- Develop the team for high performance and continued success in meeting the goals of the future.
- Identify opportunities for capital investment or line reconfiguration to best optimise the equipment and lines available.
- Support the planning team in creating an optimised production plan, taking into consideration line outputs and crewing requirements.
- Own projects that identify cost savings in production and deliver within the agreed timeframe.
- Ensure the necessary Health & Safety standards are always maintained within the production team, including raising Near Misses and accident reporting/investigation is concluded within the timescale and an appropriate solution put in place.
- Lead the Daily Production Review (9am meeting) ensuring any actions are followed through for any poor performance.
- Set the direction, the culture and the standards for people and performance at the site.
- Maintain systems and controls to ensure the consistent delivery of “right first time” production.
- Delivery of the budgeted targets and effective achievement of the manufacturing KPI’s.
- Ensuring efficient management of all resources within manufacturing whilst also identifying and reducing waste within the operation.
- Developing and executing improvement plans covering all operational KPI’s within the scope of the role.
- Ensure manufacturing data is accurate, recorded appropriately and reported in a timely manner.
- Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity.
- Lead, coach and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
- Identify and close any training and development needs to ensure that the Manufacturing team have a high degree of flexibility and have the right knowledge and skills for high performance.
- Strengthen the manufacturing organisation demonstrating strong leadership to ensure effective recruitment and selection, objective setting, competency and organisation development.
- Lead and support the delivery of improvement projects and capital investment projects.
- Identify updates required to planned line outputs and crew sizes and communicate these to the planning team.
- Review the weekly plans in detail to identify opportunities for more efficient scheduling and agree these with the production and planning teams.
- Assess new product costings to ensure these are accurate and based on most up to date information.
- Communicate planned updates to production capability to costing and planning teams.
- Review and analyse line performance data and observe lines running to identify opportunities for improvement in output and efficiencies.
- Work with commercial teams to explore potential NPD opportunities fully by acting as co-ordinator within the production team.
- Review current reporting and performance monitoring processes and propose improvements to better communicate performance more widely.

- Experience of manufacturing management at a senior level.
- Key success / achievement in change management.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven project management skills.
- Proven record of delivering continuous improvement and waste reduction activity.
- Computer literate.
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Able to communicate effectively with team members across all departments.
- Able to communicate with external suppliers and service providers.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to consider the bigger picture when reviewing large scale projects.
- Structured approach to problem solving, considering all potential impacts.
