Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your testing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Control Engineering Team Leader, and work alongside other members of the Services Central Engineering team. The role will encompass developing the future capabilities, ongoing support and the optimisation of reliability and operating cost within the context of the Train Control domain of fleets of modern rolling stock.

Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your testing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Control Engineering Team Leader, and work alongside other members of the Services Central Engineering team. The role will encompass developing the future capabilities, ongoing support and the optimisation of reliability and operating cost within the context of the Train Control domain of fleets of modern rolling stock.
We’ll look to you for:
- Ensuring proper management, traceability and specification of Functional Change Requests aimed at optimising maintenance costs, improving product reliability and implementing client driven requests.
- Investigation of Technical Queries raised by internal and external stakeholders and driving these to conclusion within expected timescales.
- Building good working relationships with and supporting colleagues and clients at various depot locations.
- Working within the existing process framework to ensure quality, cost and timescale commitments are met.
- Participating in Continuous Improvements and Lessons Learned activities, to strengthen our processes and ways of working for the future.
- Authoring and Review of documentation such as Test Specifications, Test Reports, Modification documentation, Risk Assessments.
- Achieving the specified software quality requirements detailed in System Engineering and TCMS Software Quality Plan and informs the team members of their associated responsibilities.

- University degree in a suitable Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Electronics, Railway, Systems) or Computer Science.
- Experience in Software system/Application engineering for Engineer
- Experience of Testing (software, functional testing) and Validation
- Strong background in Requirements Management (e.g. DOORS or similar)
- Able to distil complex topics and present findings in a manner suitable to the target audience.
- Experience working knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
- Proficient in the use of MS Office
