Reporting to the Head of Flight Operations in the role of Regulatory Approvals Lead you will lead on advising the company on compliance with both civil and military UAS regulations. You will be responsible for the management of these regulations and the continuous improvement of R&D Company flying approvals.

Reporting to the Head of Flight Operations in the role of Regulatory Approvals Lead you will lead on advising the company on compliance with both civil and military UAS regulations. You will be responsible for the management of these regulations and the continuous improvement of R&D Company flying approvals.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert consultancy on UK and European UAS regulations and the requirements relevant to support CL programme objectives
- lead SORA based operational approvals
- Work with Project Managers on the development of their key assurance technical documents to support approvals
- Stay up to date with evolving UAS regulations and industry standards and communicate key updates
- Working with regulators to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
- Representing the company at key RPAS/UAS forums
- Acting as UAS crewmember when required/qualified
- Support other BAE Falconworks entities, as required
- Periodic deployment, foreign travel e.c.t
- Demonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible manner.
- Report all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to, or observes, in the correct manner.
- When required or directed, participate in any health and safety training.
- Perform other duties as required
About You
Essential
- A recognised aviation qualification, such as Flight Crew License, Air Traffic Controller, Airport Management or EASA UAS qualifications.
- An aviation, UAS or technical degree
- UAS Qualifications, such as EASA SORA
- UAS or BMFA/LMA Model Flying Qualification
Essential:
- Commercial or military aviation operating experience and qualification
- 5+ years of successful aviation operations delivery in a team environment
- Knowledge and experience of UK aviation regulation and practical governance
- Experience with SMS implementation
- Strong written skills for preparing detailed documentation, approval applications and other technical documentation
- Excellent communication oral and presentational skills.
- Military aviation experience, including knowledge of the Defence Air Environment Operating Framework and MRP
- Experience in aviation safety cases, such as bow tie risk management methodology
- Knowledge and experience of applying UK civil UAS regulations (or similar), preferably including SORA competence
- Model aircraft or UAS operating experience and qualification including in leadership roles
- Flight test/trial experience
- Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
- Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel
- Excellent communicator
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Ability to work well in a team
- Enthusiasm for their work and self-motivated
- Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
