The role

We're committed to giving our customers top-quality products and a great experience every time they enjoy Huel. Our Technical team plays a big part in that, ensuring product quality and safety. We are now looking for a Technical Manager who will be responsible for technical standards across our raw materials, including both food and packaging. Here's an insight into your day-to-day:

  • Ingredient Compliance Management: Ensure all new and existing ingredients meet Huel’s internal safety standards, including microbiological criteria, through thorough review of specifications and supporting supplier documentation
  • Packaging quality: We have huge gains to make on packaging quality and product improvements, both to support our third-party manufacturing and to improve running consistency at our high-tech factory in Milton Keynes - you will be leading the charge on this
  • Regulatory Compliance: Review compliance to existing and upcoming regulations for both packaging and food ingredients, and project manage any required changes critical to compliance across UK/EU/US and Asia
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with NPD, Procurement, and Planning teams to develop sourcing strategies to identify actions to improve ingredient quality and mitigate supply chain risks
  • Supplier Issue Resolution: Raise and resolve ingredient-related non-conformances with suppliers, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Technical Support: Provide expert support on ingredient-related queries from both internal teams and co-manufacturing partners
  • Site Quality & Efficiency Support: Contribute to quality and operational efficiency improvements at Huel’s Milton Keynes production facility and across co-manufacturer sites
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Develop and track quarterly KPIs to evaluate supplier performance against key internal benchmarks and drive progress on product quality and complaint reduction initiatives
  • Accreditation Compliance: Oversee ingredient compliance with external certifications such as Kosher, Halal, BRCGS, Coeliac Society, Non-GMO Project, and Vegan Society, including support for associated audits
  • Quality Evaluation Support: Collaborate with the Ingredient Technologist to assess ingredient quality and support supplier quality improvement initiatives
  • Supplier Auditing: Conduct audits and site visits of supplier manufacturing facilities in line with Huel’s internal supplier audit standards

What we're looking for in you

This role is a great fit for someone with at least 2–3 years of experience in a quality assurance/technical manager position within the food industry.

  • You’ll need to have worked with food safety/qaulity within the food and drink sector.
  • A bonus will be some knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements within the UK/EU/US but this isn’t essential.
  • Strong organisational, project management, and delegation skills
  • A positive, energetic and can-do attitude and an appetite to get stuck into a variety of projects at once
  • Be able to have strong communication and relationship building skills

And as always, we’re on the lookout for new Hueligans who love a fast-paced environment and are always striving to be their best. We want people who aren’t afraid to think differently and push boundaries. If you’re all about setting big goals and believe that amazing things happen through creativity and teamwork, you’ll fit right in at Huel!
