Overview

An Account Director (AD) provides senior level strategic counsel and proactive management of B2B PR campaigns for a portfolio of clients. They are a trusted and reliable 'go to' for both clients and Customers. Excellent management and communication skills are essential within this position.

They are responsible for the strategic counsel of their clients, leading on the development and deployment of creative PR strategies to meet the commercial needs of the clients, ensuring the team always remain outcomes orientated. They take a principal role in developing and maintaining relationships with key media, clients and any other third parties that help Aver create great client communications - from leasing agents and research agencies to local stakeholders. They manage and oversee a PR team to ensure campaigns are delivered and service level agreements are met.

It is essential that they are proactive, agile and always hungry to scope out new opportunities and angles for clients beyond the day-to-day churn of leasing announcements, ensuring all work is aligned with clients' outcomes. They have a passion for using communications effectively to influence and engage and they must have an interest in current affairs and a notable passion for the property industry and consumer trends.

As a senior member of the business, they are commercially minded, identifying new business opportunities and driving the growth of Aver (via client diversification and existing account growth). They play a pivotal role in new business development, supporting on preparing strong proposals and pitches where relevant. They will support the Client Services Director, Deputy Managing Director and Founder of Aver in the smooth running of the business, taking part in the constant development and evolution of the business, its operations, initiatives and culture.

Typically, an AD will have a minimum of five - seven year's experience in public relations and comms. They must have an interest in PR and a notable passion for the industry, especially within retail, F&B and property sectors.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development and Implementation
  • Remain outcomes orientations not outputs
  • Ownership of developing client communication strategies and their tactical implementation
  • Overseeing strategic plans are implemented effectively across all clients - ensuring the team are tasked with pushing through news and objectives for each client
  • Show a high level of business acumen with the ability to communicate across departments and represent PR at a senior level within the business
  • Be solutions orientated, problem solving account issues and pre-empting any potential hurdles
  • Consistently monitor account results / performance against client targets, ensuring Aver remains on track to hit and exceed targets.

Client Relationships

  • Establish strong relationships with clients across all accounts, proactively nurturing and managing these relationships
  • Becoming client's key contact and lead counsel for strategic advice
  • Managing client servicing and agency performance across accounts
  • Leading in meetings and managing team effectively to deliver results
  • Managing an extended portfolio, ensuring consistency of service is delivered and overseeing provision of account resources
  • Guide the team to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients and help clients to achieve their desired outcomes

Team Management and Development

  • Visibly leading and managing a team of PR professionals, account managers, and account executives
  • Ensuring a streamlined and effective running across accounts
  • Delegating effectively to support strategy implementation
  • Providing career counsel, professional development support, monitoring and leading performance reviews
  • Identifying, developing and nurturing talent within the team, challenging them to be the very best and pinpointing training needs where required
  • Developing their knowledge and expertise in the industry and as PR professionals
  • Contributing to and inspire a 'laugh and learn' culture at our Client

New Business

  • Presenting new business ideas to the senior leadership team
  • Providing support for agency growth and development of new business
  • Proactively seek and attain new client opportunities, working towards ambitious year-on-year growth targets
  • Be involved and lead on new business pitches where required

Media

  • Leading by example, developing senior press relationships and managing contacts with key commentators, industry spokespeople and sector influencers
  • Identifying high profile opportunities
  • Ensuring the team are delivering feature opportunities and encourage investigating new opportunities and to think creatively
