Salary: Band 10 £48,132 – £52,491 per annum


Location – agile between home and Forth Banks Police Station, Newcastle. The majority of your time will be working from home with at least one day a week working from Forth Banks. You will also need to be able to attend meetings at other stations throughout the region, on an ad hoc basis.


Hours: 37 hours per week, permanent


The role:


We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Procurement Business Partner. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will have the autonomy to make your mark within your category of expertise, contributing to the corporate objectives and priorities by providing specialist professional advice and guidance to the Force in all aspects of procurement.


You will be assigned your own Procurement Category (Estates) to manage and be responsible for engaging with Senior Business users and managing the performance of key strategic contracts within that defined category area, as well as identifying potential savings opportunities.


You will also have line management responsibility for junior members of the team, overseeing their work and being heavily involved in their development.


What you’ll bring


  • Full membership of CIPS or currently working towards this certification.
  • An understanding of public sector procurement and experience with the PCR 2015 and Procurement Act 2023.
  • Experience of working in a procurement department in a large organisation.
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of skills in procurement processes and contract management.
  • Excellent personal organisational planning and management skills along with the ability to manage multiple work streams, at different stages of development simultaneously.
  • Be able to demonstrate good examples of effective problem solving through working examples.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Be able to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, with subordinates, peers and senior management.
  • Working with Microsoft software packages and writing reports.


You will be acting in partnership with your key internal and external stakeholders, you’ll manage complex, high value procurement projects that are key to delivering good quality services.


You will be a key strategic advisor, confident and clear thinking, providing expert support and making sure projects achieve the best possible outcomes.

Terms of appointment


This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
