Grade 5 SCP 12 to 17 Actual Salary (£23,941.48 to £25,970.95 per annum)

37 hours per week, term time plus five additional days (Training Days)

Waingels is seeking to appoint a committed, hard-working SEND Pastoral Mentor to work with the SEND Leadership Team and other pastoral colleagues to support SEND students in Key Stage 3 and 4. They will manage the day-to-day operations of the Den which is a space for SEND pupils to access support and interventions.

These important non-teaching roles are key parts of our overall strategy to ensure that we are meeting the range of pastoral needs of young SEND people by working with Heads of Year, as well as teachers, to provide the best possible support for SEND students, enabling them to be successful in all aspects of their school life and help prepare them for the next stage of their learning.

Role

The successful candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of safeguarding, pastoral care and wellbeing for SEND students, working closely with other pastoral staff to ensure that students are able to access their curriculum and can be a successful Waingels student. Key elements of this role will include:

  • To safeguard all students within a Key Stage
  • To provide outstanding pastoral care
  • To promote excellent attendance to school and lessons
  • To support students with their emotional and behavioural needs
  • To find solutions for disadvantaged students where their economic status affects their ability to meet and exceed their potential
