This role plays a vital role as the primary point of contact between residents, community stakeholders, and the project team in a social housing retrofit project. Responsibilities include communicating project updates, addressing resident concerns, organizing community engagement activities, and facilitating access to support services. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to effectively navigate complex social dynamics to ensure resident satisfaction and well-being throughout the retrofitting process This role will suit someone with previous experience in community engagement, resident relations, social services, or a related field. Ideally they will have experience specifically within social housing projects or community development initiatives is highly desirable Desirable Skills
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with diverse populations, including marginalized or vulnerable communities, and understanding their unique needs and challenges
  • Experience in conflict resolution, crisis management, or mediation may be beneficial, as Resident Liaison Officers often encounter situations requiring these skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and empathetically to residents from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and cultural sensitivity, to build rapport and trust with residents, to deliver excellent customer service
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to understand and address resident concerns, complaints, and conflicts effectively, often in high-pressure or emotionally charged situations
  • Organizational and time management skills to schedule appointments and record status/action, help with coordinating community events and meetings, while managing multiple tasks and priorities
  • Efficient, positive and proactive, both on an individual basis and working with the team to reach solutions
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for communication, project management, documentation, and data management, such as Microsoft Office suite, email, and social media platforms
Additional Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of housing policy, legislation, and regulations governing social housing programs and tenant rights, particularly within the jurisdiction where the project is located
  • Familiarity with best practices in community engagement, participatory decision-making, and conflict resolution techniques, as well as an understanding of trauma-informed care principles
  • Basic knowledge of retrofit activities
  • Certification or training in community engagement, conflict resolution, social work, or related fields can enhance qualifications and demonstrate a commitment to professional development
