About QPR Community Trust:

QPR in the Community Trust works within the local community providing opportunities based on the main objectives of health, education, social inclusion and participation, tackling National issues at a local level. The Trust recognises the power that football, and the Club identity has on its local community.

Working in disadvantaged and deprived areas of seven West London boroughs with many local partners involved and delivering to around 23,000 participants, the Trust wishes to support local communities and provide opportunities for participants to make positive changes is their lives. Established in 1994 and obtaining charitable status in 2009, the charity is focused on:

  • Positive physical & mental health
  • Supporting young people to reach their full potential.

QPR Community Trust has a wide range of projects including The Tiger Cubs, Extra-Time over 60s club, QPR Primary Stars, Soccer Schools, Kicks, Healthy Eating Projects plus many more

Role Summary:

To maintain the Trust’s position as the leading provider of Education & Employability programmes in the local area


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow the Education Department that includes: College Academy, Higher Education Programme, School Sport, PLPS, PLI plus other employability related projects
  • Develop a culture of high performance, motivation and expectations within the staff team and across all areas of work
  • SLT member to steer QPR Trust strategic development
  • Develop strategy for department that feeds into overall QPR Trust outcomes
  • Manage significant budget across projects
  • Develop education and employability offer for local partners including schools, colleges and universities, councils and charities
  • Work with the Fundraising function of the Foundation where appropriate to source additional funding streams for projects.
  • Liaise and communicate with Premier League Charitable Fund around PLPS, and PLI plus other projects
  • Lead on QPR FC Academy Scholar Education agreement.
  • Commit to a programme of continuing personal development (CPD)
  • Ensure all activities are delivered to the standards outlines in the Trust/Club’s Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Child Protection policies.
  • Record and store sensitive data in line with the QPR Trust’s GDPR policies
  • Participate in the appraisal process.
  • Undertake duties to support the Club’s commercial/marketing partners.
  • Work QPR home match days, evening work, weekends and Bank holidays when instructed.
  • Undertake every opportunity to promote a positive image of QPR in the Community Trust and Queens Park Rangers Football Club

Personal Specification

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a teaching environment
  • Experience of line managing, developing and motivating full-time staff members
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and / or Further / Higher Education
  • Experience of managing a budget and looking at strategies to increase income generation
  • Experience of evaluating the impact of sessions and writing reports to reflect this.
  • Understanding of how to use QPR & football as a motivational tool to inspire young people.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safeguarding protocol and procedures

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • A genuine interest in creating opportunities through sport and education
  • A passion for self-development and a willingness to find and undertake continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Teaching Qualification (Desirable)
  • In-date DBS/Safeguarding/Emergency Aid (Desirable)
  • Mental Health First Aid (Desirable)
