Your role at BRE

This role supports the delivery of product testing and evaluation within BRE's Electronic Security department. Working in a UKAS-accredited laboratory environment, the role contributes to the certification of electronic security systems under the internationally recognised LPCB brand.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

Conduct laboratory testing and technical assessments of electronic security systems, including intrusion detection, secure communications, access control, and surveillance products

Operate test instrumentation and perform hands-on evaluations to relevant standards and specifications

Interpret technical drawings and schematics, recording and analysing test results accurately

Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports in support of certification outcomes

Liaise directly with clients to communicate test procedures, results, and project updates

Ensure compliance with UKAS and relevant certification standards (e.g. BS EN 50131, BS EN 50136)

Support the maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities to ensure operational readiness

Assist in delivering projects on time, to budget, and in line with quality expectations

Contribute to maintaining accreditations and ensuring efficient day-to-day laboratory operation

Your profile

Essential

A qualification in Electronic Engineering, preferably at degree level (other relevant qualifications will also be considered)

Industry experience in a related role, ideally within the security sector, a quality or testing laboratory environment, or another electronics-based field

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey goals, expectations, and feedback to clients at all organisational levels

Proactive and motivated approach, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and colleagues

Strong analytical skills, clarity of thought, and a high level of attention to detail

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

Commitment to delivering work to a high standard of quality

Practical experience using measurement instrumentation such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.

Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams

Ability to interpret technical drawings and circuit schematics

Full UK driving licence

Desirable

Experience working in the security industry, with familiarity in BS EN 50131 and BS EN 50136 standards

General understanding of security products and their operation

Experience with certification or quality management processes, particularly within a UKAS-accredited environment

Experience in environmental testing (e.g. climatic, vibration, shock)

Proven experience in project management

Publication of technical papers or other formally recognised technical documentation

Work Location

On-Site – This role requires full-time presence at our Watford office. You must live within a commutable distance.
