The Opportunity

The Project engineer will be responsible for the coordination and safe delivery of key business projects, ensuring they are technically fit for purpose and meet the statutory requirements. Ensuring all projects meet expectations for product development, quality, cost and delivery, maximising efficiency. Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the identification, scoping, and delivery of capital projects across manufacturing to improve safety, quality, capacity, optimise the cost of operations and develop new capabilities.
  • Play a key role in engineering continuous improvement programmes.
  • Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to during the design and implementation stages of a project’s delivery
  • Generate and maintain associated engineering documents to support processes and capability.
  • Effective management of contractors to ensure delivery of requirements whilst adhering to site health safety and environmental policies.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Assist in developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Resource scheduling and management of contractors.
  • Develop / maintain a detailed project plan to track progress.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

People Management

  • Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
  • Day to Day management of contractors working onsite

Financial And Budget Management

  • Produce and maintain a monthly cost control sheet for each project that is being executed. Escalate any issues to the Engineering Project Manager, UK.

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage key relationships with contractors and project partners to efficiently deliver projects.
  • Report on project activities on a regular basis to the Engineering Project Manager, UK ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators.
  • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance of the Capital Budget.

Environmental & Sustainability

  • Design into projects environmental and sustainability from conception through to implementation.

Self-Management

Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For

We're after someone with a degree in Engineering (or related field), backed up by solid hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. If you’ve worked on an upper-tier COMAH site before, that’s a bonus. It’s even better if you’ve got a project management qualification like PRINCE2 or APM under your belt, but it's not essential.
