Honeywell Aerospace is a leading provider of integrated avionics, engines, systems and service solutions for aircraft manufacturers, airlines, business and general aviation, military space and airport operations.

The Aerospace Yeovil site includes Integrated Supply Chain operations and Engineering & Technology as well as other support functions. It specializes in several product lines including: environmental control systems, life support systems, hydraulics systems, and control and data systems.

What are we looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join us in Yeovil as an Advanced Test Engineer within Mechanical Test. The successful individual will be responsible for development and test engineering activities associated with mechanical systems and components or facility upgrades, data acquisition and instrumentation.

Responsibility will be across the Life Support System, Environmental Control System and Hydraulics product lines at both component and system level.

The successful candidate will get hands on experience with test facilities such as performance rigs, high altitude test chambers, acceleration (g) centrifuge, high flow, and high/low temperature test cells and more.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed design/layouts to meet customer requirement and specification.
  • Specification and procurement of test fixtures and fittings.
  • Support test rig and facility build, seeing a design from concept through to installation.
  • Support detailed estimates at the request of project leaders as a contribution to product development proposals.
  • Ensure that design principles are observed throughout all phases of the design process and apply data rational analysis to arrive at robust solutions.
  • Work in accordance with procedures and design standards and to contribute to developing best working practices.
  • Be responsible for the completion and checking of drawing packs and any other supporting documentation.

Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of CAD software (NX, Solid works, AutoCAD or similar)
  • You will need to come from an engineering background and have a strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, particularly pneumatics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information effectively
  • Ability to work within a cross functional team as well as individually
  • Competent in the standard Microsoft office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
