NHS Tayside

Date: 10 hours ago
City: Dundee, Scotland
Contract type: Full time
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are looking for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our MFE Team and would also consider supporting a trainee who has already begun their journey to become an ANP and who have completed their clinical assessment and non-medical prescribing modules.

Preferred applicants will require experience working at an advanced level with frail, elderly patients, with the ability to make professional, autonomous clinical decisions through history taking, physical examination and problem solving. The role will involve working autonomously, supported by Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Manager and working collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

You will assess, diagnose and manage older people within our assessment and rehabilitation wards in RVH. You will work closely with older people and their families/carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team to identify clinical issues quickly and aim to support avoidable deterioration, effective rehabilitation and discharge.

You will also work with the Discharge Hub to facilitate timely discharge and smooth, efficient and person centred transitions of care.

You will be expected to act as a clinical leader, working in close collaboration with the members of the MDT and will play a key role in the leadership and development of advanced nursing practice within Dundee. You will participate in the delivery of specialist education and training programmes and will work collaboratively with health and social care colleagues across the partnership to deliver high quality evidence based care.

You will also play a key role in enhancing patient experience, assuring clinical governance and supporting the Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Senior Leadership Team in the improvement and continued development of the service.

In return we offer the opportunity to work with a dynamic Health & Social Care Partnership and the successful applicants will be supported to continue to develop and demonstrate advanced level practice to maximise the wider opportunities to improve the health and social care outcomes for the population of Dundee.

Applicants should be registered nurses with a post graduate diploma, or Master’s degree (MSc) in Advanced Practice. You should also be a Non Medical Prescriber. We may also consider applications for trainee posts and will support the development of individuals to meet advanced practice competencies. This will be supported using a triangulation approach of academic courses, mentorship and clinical supervision. Applicants for trainee posts should have demonstrated evidence of undertaking courses relevant to the advanced practice pathway and able to demonstrate the ability to study at level 11. Remuneration associated with trainee posts will be as per annex 21.

You must have the clinical knowledge and commitment to undertake this challenging and rewarding role. The ability to travel across Dundee is essential. Please see Job description for other requirements of this post.

  • You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the NMC Register

Initially your post will be based at Royal Victoria Hospital, but this may change as we further develop our cluster working.
