As a Technical Author for Marshall Land Systems you will work as part of a Team to create and maintain a range of Technical Publications, ensuring they are delivered on time, to cost and quality.
Responsibilities will include:
- Producing Technical Publications which are compliant with relevant standards, using appropriate authoring software.
- Ensuring all Technical Publications and Illustrations satisfy customer requirements for operating, maintenance and repair procedures.Â
- Reviewing and verifying the content of all Technical Publications, making sure relevant Safety and hazard Warnings and Cautions are captured accurately.
- Adherence to Company Values, Processes and Procedures.
- Promoting and adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation and Best Practice.
Tasks to be done within the responsibility of the role will include:
- Ensuring all Technical Publications are delivered on time and to budget.
- Supporting formal project reviews and provide Technical Publication guidance across the business unit.
- Attending customer facing meetings, as required, ensuring expectations are being met and establishing good rapport at an early stage.
- Supporting the reporting of Task Progress, highlighting any issues, impediments, risks and resourcing to your Line Manager.
- Making sure where relevant, all overseas Customer Publications are translated using an approved Translation House, to the required quality standard.
- Ensuring lessons learnt and best practice are shared across the business to support continuous improvement.
- Mentoring less experienced colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience to contribute to overall team success.
- Providing Technical Publications support and advice to our Teams, ensuring all Projects have the Technical Publications inputs they require.
- Supporting the Technical Publications Manager/Senior Specialist, Technical Publications so that that all Technical Publications requirements are achieved in a smooth and efficient manner in accordance with the Publications Processes and Project Programme.
- Attending any relevant activities that involve Validation and Verification of all Technical Publications. These can be Ease of Maintenance Assessments, Logistic Demonstrations or other customer of contract defined events.
Apply if you have most of the following:
- Experience of Technical Authoring to challenging timescales.
- Good planning and organisation skills.
- Enhanced communication skills.
- Planning and delivery to schedules, at time, cost and quality.
- Appreciation of Def Stan 00-600, especially Def Stan 601 Part 4.
- Development of Technical Publication solutions.
Knowledge/Experience of:
- All MS Office Products, especially MS Word and any specialist Authoring Software such as Eagle EPS, Arbortext Editor, MadCap Flare, FrameMaker etc.
- ASD S Series Technical Publications and ILS standards.
- Military publications such as AESP (Def Stan 00-601 Parts 1-4), Air Publications or IETPs (ASD S1000D).
- Configuration Management and Documentation Control.
