Job Opportunity: Logistic Coordinator at Suttons International
Location: Widnes (Hybrid after training – 2 days in the office)
Hours: 09:00 – 17:30
Salary: £30k
The Role
Suttons International, a family-owned global logistics leader, is looking for a Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Widnes. This role is central to delivering outstanding customer service and operational efficiency across local, regional, and international markets.
As part of the Euro Short Sea Team, you’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Operations Supervisors, and global HQ teams to ensure the smooth and cost-effective execution of logistics services tailored to our customers’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and service
- Proactively address customer needs, concerns, and inquiries with professionalism and efficiency
- Coordinate with customers and consignees to meet specific service and reporting requirements
- Investigate and resolve complaints, working with internal and external teams to identify root causes and implement solutions
- Manage the full lifecycle of logistics operations—from booking to final delivery
- Ensure accurate job setup and order management to minimise delays and maximise customer satisfaction
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with customers throughout the order process
- Prepare and manage all logistics documentation, including hazardous goods and international trade compliance
- Plan and monitor inbound and outbound deliveries, liaising with internal teams and external partners (e.g., shipping lines, hauliers, depots)
- Work with the Planning Team to optimise tank asset allocation
- Facilitate smooth handovers between export and import offices to ensure seamless service delivery
- Allocate and reserve job costs accurately, investigating any margin discrepancies
- Prepare and submit invoices with appropriate approvals, managing receivables and resolving billing queries
What we’re looking for
- Experience in customer service, ideally within logistics or supply chain
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
- Strong relationship-building and problem-solving abilities
- Proven experience in logistics operations and order management
- Familiarity with logistics software (e.g., TMS, ERP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic understanding of accounting and cost control
- Experience with invoice processing and reconciliation
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational and planning skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- A proactive, results-driven mindset
