Role Description/CriteriaGeneral expectations:

  • Attend to the values and teachings of the Catholic Church in accordance with the Victoria Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022.
  • Be qualified and VIT registered or eligible for Permission to Teach.
  • Show professional support and guidance to colleagues, parents and students while encouraging an atmosphere of mutual respect in line with the school’s Vision, Mission Statement, School Child Safety Policy and all other school policy guidelines.
  • Complete required evaluation and assessment as part of the school’s professional teaching routine and retain these as part of ongoing planning resources. Write formal academic reports that conform to report writing guidelines each semester.
  • As a professional member of staff, make a commitment to attend staff meetings and professional development activities, as organised by yourself and the school cooperatively, as an indication of your ongoing professional development.
  • Be confident in their use of ICT.
  • Uphold AITSL professionalism standards for teachers, the VIT and MACS Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to all points outlined in the school’s Staff Charter and Staff Handbook.

Specific expectations:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging music and/or Performing Arts lessons to all primary school year levels.
  • Develop age-appropriate resources and activities that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to students, parents and staff.
  • Stay current with best practices in Performing Arts education and including teaching strategies.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Depending on the specific skills of the successful candidate, there is the opportunity to lead the school choir, and to create and lead a whole school performance.
