About Entelo Bio

Entelo Bio is redefining the boundaries of precision medicine. Harnessing advanced machine learning and proprietary single-cell sequencing technologies, we're pioneering a new era of therapeutic discovery beyond traditional gene expression analysis. Our revolutionary platform is transforming target discovery to develop medicines for millions of patients with unmet clinical needs. We are venture-financed by global investors and located in Oxford's prestigious BioEscalator facility, supporting high-performing startups in the life sciences.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Research Technician to join our laboratory team and play a critical role in our human tissue research program. This position offers the opportunity to apply a wide range of molecular biology techniques, including high-quality nucleic acid extraction, RNAseq library preparation, and long-read sequencing, in support of our precision medicine research. Based in Oxford's BioEscalator facility, you'll work independently under the strategic guidance of our CTO, making direct contributions to our scientific discoveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sequencing Execution: Conduct sequencing runs using the Oxford Nanopore or PacBio platform
  • Tissue Culture: Maintain cell lines and perform primary cell culture work from human tissue samples
  • Sample Processing & Biobanking: Process, catalogue, and store biological samples according to strict quality standards
  • Assay Development: Implement standardised protocols and assist in assay optimisation
  • Tissue Analysis: Perform tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry when required
  • HTA Compliance: Maintain compliance with Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulations and documentation requirements
  • Data Management: Ensure accurate record-keeping and sample tracking (e.g. ELN and LIMS)
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain high standards across all laboratory procedures
  • General Lab Expertise: Ability to perform standard wet-lab procedures with high reproducibility, maintain accurate lab notebooks, and work safely in a regulated environment

Essential Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related field
  • Experience: 1-2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience (strong academic experience sufficient but excluding undergraduate labs)
  • Molecular Biology Skills: Proven expertise in a broad range of molecular biology techniques, with an emphasis on nucleic acid extraction and RNA-seq library preparation
  • Tissue Handling: Experience working with human tissues and biological samples
  • Cell Culture: Solid tissue culture skills and sterile technique
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with the team
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to experimental protocols and documentation

Desirable Requirements

  • Long-read Experience: Hands-on experience with ONT or PacBio sequencing platforms
  • Histological Techniques: Experience with tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry
  • HTA Knowledge: Familiarity with Human Tissue Authority regulations or willingness to train
  • Assay Development: Experience in setting up and optimising new laboratory assays
  • Biobanking: Knowledge of sample storage and biobanking best practices
