We are now seeking a Practitioner Manager to complete our Family Support management team, with the expertise and skills to supervise the effective operation of the team and deliver great practice.
Join our dedicated team to help workers confidently manage risk while supporting families with children on child protection or care and support plans, as well as those subject of care proceedings. You will have the opportunity to directly assist families with complex needs, ensuring they receive the necessary support.

About The Role
Pay Details: Grade 10 SCP 36 - 39 £45,718 - £48,710 pro rata + £5,000 enhancement, £23.70 - £25.25 (Hourly Rate)
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours Monday to Friday
Main Place of Work: Dock Office, Barry / Agile WorkingAn annual enhancement of £5,000 is paid for this post.

To be successful in this role, you will:

Description:
- Help individuals identify what matters most to them and work towards achieving their goals, providing a social work service to children, young people and their families / carers, in line with the relevant legislation, guidance, regulations and national standards.
- Assist the team manager in overseeing all aspects of the team’s work, including children subject of care proceedings, deputising in their absence. To supervise social care staff in their direct practice.
- Provide direct support to families with particularly complex needs.
About You
Workers in the Vale of Glamorgan are able to be kind, consistent and focussed in their work with children, young people and families making a real difference to children and families when circumstances are challenging. Managers are readily available and staff wellbeing is a priority.
You will need:
- To be a qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Care Wales.
- Experience of statutory social work with children, young people and their families.
- Knowledge of the principles of the Childrens Act 1989 and the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.
- Experience of using the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
- An ability to negotiate effectively.
- A commitment to partnership working.
- Experience of supervision or the mentoring and supporting of social work staff / students.
