Make a meaningful impact as a Monitoring Support Officer with Serco Workforce Solutions


You will support Field Monitoring Officers while they install and decommission monitoring equipment. Your primary role is to be an extra pair of eyes for the Field Monitoring Officer while they attend to the task they have been assigned to them.


This is a frontline role which will require you to enter the homes of those who are completing their sentences outside of prison. You would assist with the carrying of equipment, be able to hold conversation with any friend or family in the address to allow the Field Monitoring Officer to carry out their role. Take notes for the Field Monitoring Officer and any other light duties requested by the Field Monitoring Officer.

If you’re successful in your application, you’ll need to be able to achieve BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance, which we will request on your behalf.

Because of the nature of this role, we’re looking for people who are resilient and not easily offended. You’ll be particularly well-suited for this role if you’ve worked in the prison service, security, postal service, social care, or the police forces. Online training will be required to complete prior to commencing the role which lasts for approximately one hour, as well as job shadowing, to ensure you are comfortable in your new role.


Key responsibilities:


  • Check, clean, and quarantine equipment as necessary
  • Liaise with the control centre to report issues or breaches
  • Show respect to device wearers to support and build confidence in the justice system
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and follow procedures
  • Participate in team meetings


Work schedule:

The shift pattern covers 7 days per week, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.


Core hour schedules are from 9am to 2am including weekend working however please note the majority of shifts 4pm to 2am with a 7.5 hour shift.
