Tasks
- Collate, analyse & challenge Cost/Value Reports and forecasts as required, then implement required actions.
- Design and implement a commercial strategy for their portfolio and tenders with the assistance of their functionalmanager and Technical and Operational counterparts.
- Ensure that the Commercial Practitioners administer the contracts correctly in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify, mitigate and manage risk & opportunities for the portfolio of work.
- Be responsible, where required, to ensure that a review of all of the contractual obligations and commercial risks iscarried out prior to the submission of tenders and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are identified and implemented.
- Maximise the cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans for all projects
- Identify and advise on insurance related issues, including prompt notification of potential claims and ensuring allinsurance related contractual requirements of the projects are implemented and managed.
- Ensuring a margin improvement plan/strategy exists on each project, challenge, influence and monitor the strategy
- Engage in work winning duties as required, including proactive release of team members and attendance at Client
- Presentations for Tender Interviews
- Assist in development of Joint Venture Agreements and arrangements where appropriate.
- Assist in the procurement of PCG’s, Bonds and Warranties and manage the successful implementation.
- Involvement in contract negotiations with the Client, including highlighting of business risk parameters.
- Ensuring optimum performance of commercial team for the portfolio of work, undertaking constant reviewing formargin gains in efficiency and timely resource forecasting and continual identification and management of risks and opportunities
- Manage Client and Sub-Contractor disputes, ensuring the timely issue of appropriate contractual notices.
- Manage and directly influence the Sub-Contract and Consultant procurement process on all projects ensuring the prompt issue of contracts and appointments, support in the negotiation of terms with the supply chain and review all contracts before issue.
- Support in the management of Sub-Contract and Consultant accounts and as required review and negotiate final accounts.
- Support with the management and pricing of Client change and variations and promote the maximisation of value.
- Ensure the out-turn cost and value on the projects are monitored and managed in real time and ensure a detailedforecast is maintained and reported on a monthly basis.
- Support in the preparation and presentation of monthly project reviews
- Undertake any other work as required of you by the Commercial Director, including assistance in emergencysituations for peers and manager
- Manage the performance of all employees assigned to you in accordance with legislation and Company procedures
- HND/Degree qualification
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
- CSCS Card (relevant type). All roles are expected to have the relevant competency skills cards where site-based work is required
- Commercially astute with substantial proven experience within a commercial role in the Construction Industry.
- Expert knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
- Understanding of programming techniques and project controls.
- Leadership Skills.
- Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
